Lego Therapy

This intervention aims to develop social communication skills, such as sharing, turn-taking, following rules, using names and problem solving. Children work within a small group to jointly construct a model

 

Next Steps

Next Step is a tool that helps young people to communicate on their own terms, in their own environment. The colourful toolkit provides the perfect platform to enable safe and structured conversations with children who may be struggling with their emotional health and wellbeing.

 

Elsa

Lisa (our qualified ELSA – Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) works with the children either individually or in small groups and delivers bespoke interventions tailored to the presenting situation or need. The role of the ELSA is to develop children’s emotional literacy, positive mental health, social skills and emotional well-being.

 

Orrets Meadow

This is a bespoke intervention implemented in order to close the gaps in children’s phonics knowledge. It includes focusing on children’s reading and spelling. Children may work within small groups or individually with a specialist teacher in order to develop their basic literacy and spelling skills.

 

Drawing & Talking

Drawing and Talking Therapy is designed to complement CAMHS and other specialist therapies. It is an intervention for children who have suffered trauma or who have underlying emotional difficulties that may be affecting their learning and behaviour. Drawing and Talking technique is designed to let a child process their feelings internally, in a safe environment and at their own pace.

 

Probes

This is a precision teaching intervention.  A precision teaching approach ensures that the child has reached a level of accuracy and fluency in a particular skill that will enable them to maintain that skill over a period of time and generalise it to new situations and contexts. Within the Probes intervention, they will focus on repeated keywords in order to become familiar with them to improve reading and spelling.

 

Little Wandle Rapid Catch Up Sessions

Little Wandle Rapid Cath Up is a complete catch-up programme that mirrors the core Little Wandle phonics programme, but at a faster pace.

The programme starts with a dedicated training module (to be used alongside the main CPD modules) and is supported throughout with specific ‘How to’ videos modelling all aspects of Rapid Cath-up teaching.

 

IDL Literacy

The IDL Literacy intervention software is a speaking-computer based multi-sensory system which supports learners with dyslexia and other learning difficulties to increase their reading and spelling ages. The programme was specifically designed for those with dyslexia and is used as an intervention, but can also be used effectively as a school wide literacy software solution.

 

IDL Numeracy

IDL Numeracy is a maths software resource that helps to improve the ability of low-attaining learners in mathematics. It includes a fully graded course to support the National Curriculum for KS1 (Key Stage 1) maths and KS2 (Key Stage 2) maths. The lessons in IDL Numeracy ensure inclusivity by reducing the stress those with dyscalculia would ordinarily feel when faced with mathematical problems. 

 

IDL Well-Being

IDL Wellbeing is designed to integrate with a whole-school approach to mental health, toughness and behaviour management. IDL Wellbeing has been developed using contemporary theories and mindfulness practices. Studies have proven that teaching resilience and emotional literacy can reduce incidents of poor mental health later. IDL Wellbeing adopts an integrated approach to support children, aged 7 -13, to understand and address unwelcome emotions as well as encourage positive ones.

 

Talk Boost

Talk Boost is a catch-up programme for children who are behind with talking and understanding words to boost their language skills. Differentiated for children between the ages of 3-10 years, the programme aims to accelerate children’s progress in language skills by an average of six months, after a nine-week intervention.

 

Wellcomm

Wellcomm is a speech and language toolkit that is designed to assess children’s speech and language skills. It looks at the language they use and the language and grammar they understand. The Wellcomm Toolkit is designed for children 0 to 6 years old, so is generally used in our Preschool, Foundation 1, Foundation 2 and Year 1 classrooms.

 

Stiles

Stiles is a highly motivating, self-checking teaching aid for pupils aged 4+, providing them with rewarding and meaningful activities to work through independently without becoming bored or discouraged. The sets of books are packed full of exercises for all age children across a range of subjects including Literacy and Numeracy, and provide children with a new and exciting way to develop essential skills, helping to bring learning to life.

Stile’s unique and fun format turns learning into a game which is great way to encourage motivation and interest, making learning fun!

 

Social Stories

A social story is a simple story that describes a social situation and the appropriate way to act in that situation.

The story can teach kids about a certain event (like their first trip to the Dentist), skill (such as sharing), or topic (for example, how everybody is different).

The simple language and pictures in social stories help children at various ages understand what to expect and how to respond in certain scenarios.

 

NELI Programme

The NELI Programme is an integrated phonics intervention for 4-5 year olds that is proven to improve language and behaviour. The programme consists of a language screen which assesses children and a 20 week intervention delivered by school staff.

 

Time to Talk

Time to Talk has been specifically created to teach and develop social interaction skills and improve oral language skills for children aged between 4-6 years old. Time to Talk contains over 40 sessions which are designed for children who will be seen two to three times each week.

 

Time Tables Rock Star

Times Tables Rock Stars is a maths programme that takes all the worry out of learning times tables and has a proven track record of boosting children’s fluency and recall in multiplication and division.

 

Sensory Circuits

A sensory circuit is a form of sensory integration intervention. It involves a sequence of physical activities that are designed to alertorganise and calm the child. The sensory circuit aims to facilitate sensory processing to help children regulate and organise their senses in order to achieve the ‘just right’ or optimum level of alertness required for effective learning. 

 

Fisher Family Trust (FFT)

FFT is an early intervention for children in Year 1 who have difficulties learning to read and write. It specifically targets children who do not have the skills to access group interventions.

 

Reading Volunteers

At St Peter’s our children are very lucky to have a wide range of volunteer readers that come in weekly and take children for extra reading sessions.
