Learning Through Play

At St Peter’s we understand that play is vital to children’s learning and development. Not only is play lots of fun, it helps children to understand the world around them and it supports them to develop emotionally and socially.

It is essential for children to have opportunities to play and learn in a safe, secure fun environment with adults who care about them. We provide a safe, comfortable environment where children feel free to happily explore
independently as well as enjoy a range of structured, guided activities and lessons.
Parents are the Primary Educators of their children. We believe it is imperative to build positive partnerships with our parents in order to work together to ensure the child reaches their full potential and are happy and content. Parent partnership is crucial, and we provide lots of opportunities for parents to be pro-active and join us in supporting their child’s learning journey.

We use an online learning journal called ‘Tapestry’ to track children’s progress. It is also a lovely way to share new learning with parent’s in the form of photographs and videos. Parents can view this on their own device at any time. Observations are sent directly to parents via the online learning journal and parents can also send comments directly to their child’s teacher.
